The Royal Handbook
A plain “what do I click” companion to every tool in the CADAKAY KING CHEST.
How it always works
Click the ribbon button → its window opens → make your picks → press the action button. Most tools stay open so you can run again. Nothing changes the model until you press the action. A ▾ means the button has a dropdown of related tools. Every window has ? Help in its header — it opens this Handbook at that tool, with no internet needed. The section names below are the ribbon panels, not tiers; a tool that needs Royal Court or Kingdom says so.
First time — your standard folders
Most tools need no setup. A few read or save your firm's own files, and you point the Chest at them once, in Decree → Royal Steward → Standard Files. Every box can stay empty until you want the tool that uses it.
1. Make one folder you can save to. For one person, a folder under Documents always works. For an office, use a shared drive everyone can reach. Keep it off OneDrive — a synced Revit file can go missing or conflict. Being an administrator on the PC is not enough: Revit runs without administrator rights, so the folder itself has to let your Windows user change files. Royal Steward shows a gold line under a box you cannot save to, and Detail Smith says so when the master loads.
2. Put your files in it as you need them. Master detail file — one Revit project that holds your typical details: Detail Smith files into it, Detail Codex pulls from it. No master yet? A starter installs with the Chest. Open Detail Codex or Detail Smith with no master set and press Start from the CDK starter — or press Use the CDK starter… under the master box in Royal Steward. It puts a copy in a folder of yours and points the Chest at it; the installed one is never changed. The starter is saved in Revit 2025 and works in 2025, 2026 and 2027. Move your copy whenever you like, then point the master box at the new place. Prefer your own? A master is an ordinary project: start one from your own template and give it a plan view or a section view for each kind of detail — never a drafting view, because only a plan or a section can be shown through a link — then place the Detail Cell family that ships with the Chest (King's Armory lists it) to mark the spaces details file into. CAD detail library folder — your DWG typicals, listed in Insert CAD-REV. Family library folder — your own families, organised however they already are. Detail family template and Shared parameter file — only if you have them.
3. Say which Revit the master is saved in, in the box under it. The tools will not file into it from a newer Revit, so nobody upgrades it by accident.

Royal Courtsheets & views
Title Stamp — Swaps the title block on many sheets at once.
Royal Dispatch — Builds a reusable issue package and exports it.
A dispatch is an official message sent OUT by a rider who doesn’t wait for a reply.
View Aligner — Copies a scope box / crop and stacks viewports in the same spot on every sheet.
Sheet Heir — Duplicates a whole set of sheets (with their views) in one move.
An heir inherits everything the parent had — here, a sheet’s views and settings.
Sheet Forge — Bulk-creates sheets and drops views/details onto them in a grid.
A forge is where things are made, in quantity, to a pattern.
Korra Breakaway — Lifts the building’s floors apart in one 3D view, a group every few floors, with dashed paths down from the slab corners. Only the view moves, never the model.
A breakaway view pulls a building apart so you can see how it goes together.
Kingdomworksets & the firm
Firm standards, locked down — Your office folder can be pinned so nobody repoints their own seat, and publishing limited to named managers.
You decide the standards; IT decides who can change the lock. Kingdom tier.
King Workset — Creates standard worksets and assigns elements onto them.
Queen D's Warden — A live roster of which seats are on the firm standard. Royal Court.
A warden keeps watch over a place and answers for its condition.
Sovereigntranslators (map old → firm standard)
Style Translator — Maps line styles to your firm's and converts every line. Bulk rename renames the styles themselves by one find-and-replace.
Text Translator — Same click-to-map for text & dimension types, with the same Bulk rename.
Content Translator — Same for fill patterns, materials, line patterns, fill regions, with the same Bulk rename.
Scriptoriumdetails & CAD
Detail Codex — Pulls typical details from a master file and keeps them synced.
A codex is a bound book of collected knowledge — the ancestor of every book since.
Detail Codex — Linked View — Builds live linked detail sections off the master's cell grid.
Detail Smith — The reverse: files your project's details into the master library.
A smith makes and repairs. The Codex hands details out; the Smith stocks it.
Insert CAD-REV — Imports a DWG detail into a fresh drafting view, already at the detail's scale.
Translate CAD-REV — Converts the exploded CAD to firm standards in one pass.
Capture Family — Turns a drawn detail into a real family — select the lines and fills of one object and it becomes a detail item you can place, tag and keynote.
CDK Detail — A DWG detail becomes a native Revit detail in one run — lines, fills and notes on your firm's standards — then you choose which parts become families. Royal Court.
CAD Scour — Deletes leftover exploded-CAD lines/text/hatch.
Master Mason — Builds the model from a drawing — the button places the walls; through your AI it also places grids, levels, columns, foundations, framing and floors. Royal Court.
Rough-In — Lists everything Master Mason placed and what it had to assume, so you can check each one. Royal Court.
Guardstructure, dimensioning & annotation
Portcullis — Auto-sleeves pipes/ducts through beams/walls/floors; re-checks them after MEP updates.
The iron grille that drops in a castle gateway — the thing that governs every opening through a wall.
Steel Marshal X — Cleans beam ends for RAM.
A marshal draws up the ranks before a battle: everything in order before it moves.
Sigil — Tags a whole category in the view at once, with your firm's tag.
A sigil is a personal seal pressed into wax to show who a thing belongs to — which is what a tag does.
King's Measure — Auto-dimensions grids, walls & openings, or along a drawn line.
A king’s measure was the standard length the realm was held to — one ruler, one answer.
Royal Order — Nudges stacked tags/dim text apart and redraws leaders.
An order in both senses: a command, and things put back in order.
Royal Order — Align — Lines the selected notes and tags up on the one you pick, and evens out the gaps.
Grid Sentinels — Flips/cycles grid bubbles or shows them on both ends.
A sentinel is posted to stand and watch one spot, and not wander off it.
Bubble Jog — Steps crowded grid bubbles off the line so overlapping heads read apart on the print.
Slab Scribe — Recreates one element's sketch as another category — a roof slab becomes a floor slab — and splits a floor in two along a straight cut.
Gatekeeper — Replaces pasted-in arch doors/windows/openings with your firm's opening families, auto-sized to the wall cut.
The one who decides what is allowed through the gate, and what gets turned away.
KD On-Axis — Finds and straightens slightly off-axis walls, beams and grids — and, with Include lines ticked, drawn lines and the lines inside floor, roof and ceiling sketches.
KD On-WallJoin — Shows the join at every wall end in one list, and lets you turn it on or off without hunting for grips.
KD On-Align — Lines up the model elements you select — walls, columns, windows, any category — on the one you selected last. For text notes and tags, use Align Notes.
Line Tally — Totals line + line-based-family lengths, grouped how you choose.
A tally was a notched stick for counting — the oldest running total there is.
Chartertext & templates
View Standard — Apply / compare / push view templates, or batch-rename views.
Decreestandards & cleanup
Royal Steward — The firm-standards + license hub (free — always reachable).
The steward runs the household day to day so the king doesn’t have to.
Kingdom Setup — Project-info defaults + shared-parameter binding.
Parameter Vault — Review and swap parameters across the model.
A vault is where the valuables are kept, and where you go to get them.
Family Forge — Replaces one family with another everywhere it's used.
Same forge, different metal: this one makes families.
King's Armory — Your firm's family library, seen before anything is loaded — every folder in one list, with pictures.
An armory is where you keep what you equip the job with — and you look along the racks before you pick.
Family Flex — Check a family before you trust it, or build one that flexes — sized, drawn, built and measured.
A family earns its place by flexing — so it is flexed before it is trusted.
Level Usher — Retires a level without losing what is on it — everything moves to the level you keep.
An usher takes everyone to their new seat and makes sure nobody is left standing.
View Purge — Safely deletes unused views/families.
Throne Roommodel health & time
BIM Pulse — A live health score with warnings, hygiene, and a trend chart.
Usage Radar — Shows which families/types are used vs. bloat.
Session Tracker — Your time per model / day / week.
Realm Check — A quick model + environment sanity check.
The realm is everything you hold. This asks how it’s holding up.
Link Muster — Shows what a whole folder of models links to without opening any of them, and repaths the broken ones. Reading is free; repathing is Knight.
A muster is a roll call: every link answers before the work begins.
Royal Advisoraudit
BIM Advisor — A prioritized list of findings, each with the fix.
View Inspector — Read-only view audit (placed / referenced / orphan / on a sheet).
Proofmark — Proofs the set before it goes out — revisions, sheets, filters, phases, tags, views and coordination with linked models — one row per check, with a count. Kingdom.
Vaultdata
Schedule Chancellor — Brings a schedule in from another project with its calculated fields intact.
The chancellor keeps the records and holds the seal — the office that carries documents intact.
Upgrade Bridge — Converts an archived job forward to the Revit you are running — one model or a whole folder, unattended, the originals never touched.

Royal Herald — Opens an AI/MCP door so an assistant can read your model and run reports.
A herald carries messages between courts and announces what is happening.

Words that matterwhat the Chest means when it says these
Worksharing not enabled — A plain Revit file. One person opens it, works, saves. There is nothing to share and nothing to sync.
Most small jobs, studies and sketch models live here, and that is fine — worksharing is a way of sharing a model between people, not a mark of quality.
Central model — The master copy of a shared model. It is the one everybody's work ends up in, and the one that should be backed up, archived and handed over.
A central holds the record of who owns what. Point at a central and you are pointing at the whole team's work.
Local model — One person's own working copy of a central, kept on their machine and synced back to it.
A local is a snapshot of one person's day, not the project. It holds their unsynced work and none of anyone else's. Archive, convert or re-link a local believing it is the master and you get whatever that one person had at their last sync — which is the quietest way to lose a week of everybody else's.
Link — Another model shown inside this one. It is referenced by its file path, not copied in, so it stays a separate file that its own team keeps working on.
This is why a moved or renamed file breaks a drawing that was correct yesterday: the model did not change, the path did. Links are also why a model can be slow to open — every one of them is fetched and read before you see anything.
Detached — Opening a copy of a central that is cut loose from it — no syncing, no ownership, no connection back.
The right way to open an archived job whose server is long gone, and the right way to look at someone else's model without touching theirs. It is also permanent for that copy: a detached model can never sync to the original again.
